A lecture tour and Shabbat weekend hosted by faculty members of Ohr Somayach - Jerusalem attracted hundreds of participants from the greater London area in 1982. This outpouring of interest led Ohr Somayach to begin offering its educational programs to London's large Jewish community, and that same year a center was established.

Since then the exciting growth of activities made it imperative to establish a proper setting to accommodate the ever-increasing number of participants. In 1997, a beautiful, new facility on Golders Green Road was inaugurated.

The JLE Center in London houses a study hall, classrooms, a main meeting hall, libraries, offices, kitchens and a lounge. Classes are given every night of the week, and feature regular seminars and guest lecturers The Israel program attracts over one hundred students annually for study and tour programs at Ohr Somayach in Jerusalem.
