The Glassman Jewish
Learning Exchange (JLE) arranges two unique programs for university-age men
with little or no background
in
Judaic studies. Currently there are three English speaking JLE programs comprising
participants originating from North
America,
the United
Kingdom,
and South Africa.
The JLE offers a combination of study and touring for 3 or 6 weeks during
the summer and 3 weeks in the winter.
The program introduces the participants to the basics of Jewish thought and
practice as well as the beauty and significance of the land of Israel.
Tours,
lectures, classes ,
tutorials, discussion groups and meetings with important figures in Israeli
-Jewish life today help students gain an understanding of their heritage
and the relevance of Judaism as the 21st century approaches. The specially-designed tours impart a sense of
appreciation for Israel and bring classroom experiences to life.
The Program features the exciting opportunity to spend Shabbat
with families all around Israel. The participants will
meet Jewish families of divergent backgrounds and cultures.
All classes take place at the modern campus of the Ohr Somayach
/ Tanenbaum College in Jerusalem. Dormitory accommodations
are provided on campus. Three meals a day are provided in the
dining hall and there is a canteen for snacks. Laundry facilities
are provided and there are stores, banks and other amenities
within 5 minutes of the campus.
The faculty of the Glassman Jewish Learning Exchange comprises
a dedicated staff of educators, both scholarly and worldly,
including
noted
Rabbis and Professors from some of the leading Yeshivot and
Universities.
The Summer and Winter Program in Israel is based at the main campus of Ohr
Somayach in Jerusalem.
