Remains of a synagogue from the period of the Second Beit Hamikdash have been discovered at Migdal on the shore the Kinneret.

What is particularly impressive in this discovery is the imprint of an ancient Menorah. The leader of the archeological team that dug up the Menorah speculated that the artist who chiseled it into stone had copied it from the Menorah in the Beit Hamikdash, which he had seen with his own eyes.
