...Yearly, over 500 million ink jet cartridges and 70 million laser cartridges will be sold in the United States. Every year over 400 million cartridges, with combined weight of 200 million pounds, are discarded into our nation's landfills. The plastic used in a typical ink jet or laser cartridge takes 1,000 years to decompose. What happens to our trash? According to the EPA, 67% of it is sent to landfills, 15% is incinerated and less than 18% is recycled.

Why Recycle?
Every day in the United States, each of us will send the equivalent of 4.5 pounds of trash into our landfills. Approximately 9-12% is made up of plastics. This massive pile of garbage takes up space and will need to be monitored for years to come, making it a serious problem for the next generation. Join us as we create a better tomorrow for the children, by recycling inkjet and laser cartridges and cell phones in our RECYCLE FUNDRAISER.
How Does the Program Work?
It's simple! Our fundraiser is designed to collect and recycle used and empty inkjet and laser cartridges and cell phones from your home and office. Ohr Somayach gets paid for over 450 different cartridges and cell phones. Instead of discarding these plastic cartridges and cell phones in the trash, which eventually end up in our landfills, we encourage you to recycle them for cash, payable to our institution in our RECYCLE FUNDRAISER.
How Do I Recycle?
Ohr Somayach provides you with shipping supplies to mail in your cartridges and cell phones. Simply place them in the supplies, and ship them out. All supplies are postage-paid and bar code identified to us for proper accounting.
