Bonus Question A land animal that has only one of the two signs of kashrus (split hoof or cud-chewing) is forbidden to be eaten (11:8). Rashi says that if an animal has neither sign it is "all the more so" forbidden? How do we understand this in light of the rule that "one may not learn a prohibition based on a Kal V'Chomer (a-fortiori reasoning)"? I Did Not Know That! There are kosher and non-kosher species of land animals, birds, and fish -- but not of crawlers (shratzim), because of the snake-serpent (nachash) that first enticed Mankind to sin. Bonus Question Question:The Midrash teaches that a fire from Heaven descended to the Mizbe'ach. If so, then why were the Kohanim commanded to light a fire on the Mizbe'ach (6:5)? Answer:Hashem hid the miracle within a natural event in order to allow people the "free-will" to believe in Him. Another reason is that Hashem wants us to have more merits, and therefore commanded this fire to be kindled even though it was seemingly redundant.
