Ohr
Somayach / Derech

- Transfer Credits: As one of Ohr Somayach's instititutions, "Derech" is recognized as an
accredited institution of higher learning by the U.S. Dept. of Education and the Israeli Ministries of
Education and Religion. Students who fulfill the Yeshiva's requirements wil receive a college
transcript like those which have been accepted by the vast majority of universities attended by
our students. (A list of colleges will be provided upon request). Students can also register in the
Joint Program with Cape Cod College, as well as other colleges, at a reduced fee. Students on
this program will receive a transcript from that college.
- Costs: For tuition information
please email Rabbi
Nachi Brickman.
Tuition includes all
courses, trips, meals and dormitory facilities. Tuition does not
include the group flight (which is arranged at a special reduced
rate). Israeli insurance, which is mandatory for all students costs
$1 a day and is not included in tuition. A limited number of
scholarships are available.
- Admission requirements: Admission to the program is highly selective and only those
applicants with exemplary academic achievement and motivation are considered. Applicants
must have some background in Jewish studies, and a personal interview is required in addition
to the provision of suitable references. Submission of the application must be accompanied by the
essay, a $25 non-refundable application fee, two current photographs and the medical form.
- Facilities: The campus is located in the heart of Jerusalem, within walking distance of shopping
and commercial districts, the Old City and the Western Wall, and the Hebrew University. Living in
Israel is, in itself, an educational experience. The program enhances this experience with tours
to various parts of the country, and Shabbatot with families representing the broad spectrum of
religious life in Israel. Participants are encouraged to develop personal relationships with the staff
of Rabbis and educators, who also open their homes to students on Shabbatot and Yomim
Tovim. The campus includes the Beit Midrash, classrooms and seminar rooms. The library
contains a vast collection of Torah classics, including facsimile editions of rare manuscripts.
We look forward to seeing you...
next year in JERUSALEM!
